European Accessibility Act

Is your shop accessible?

Since June 28, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) has been legally binding – and it also applies to many online retailers. The EU directive requires providers of digital products and services to make their offerings accessible. This is especially relevant for online shops that sell directly to consumers.

Do you run an online shop? Then we should now check together whether your shop is accessible – and what you can do if it isn't.

What is the European Accessibility Act?

The EAA requires companies to design their digital offerings in a way that makes them accessible to people with disabilities.

For shop owners, this means specifically:

What happens if your shop is not accessible?

  • Legal risks: warnings, fines, or lawsuits from organizations

  • Abandoned purchases: people with disabilities may not be able to use your shop

  • Reputation loss: inclusion is now a competitive factor

  • Lost target groups: 15–20% of the EU population live with a disability
